Michelle has been a practicing patent attorney since 2001. Michelle's practice focuses on U.S. and international patent prosecution, patent-related counseling, strategy development, due diligence analysis, and legal opinion preparation.
Michelle has a technical emphasis in chemistry and the physical sciences and her clients include major U.S. research universities, small and mid-sized privately held technology companies, and government laboratories. In addition, Michelle can count a nobel prize-winning chemist among her inventors.
Michelle was named to the list of Wisconsin Super Lawyers in 2006 and 2010 in the field of intellectual property law by Law and Politics Media, Inc. Prior to forming Bell & Manning, LLC, Michelle was an attorney with Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. for two years and, prior to that, Michelle was a Senior Counsel with Foley & Lardner, LLP, where she worked for seven years.

As a doctoral student, Michelle completed coursework in materials chemistry, solid state physics, chemical engineering, thermodynamics and quantum mechanics.
Michelle's technical focus as a patent attorney is in the physical sciences, including chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science. She has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in these technical areas, including applications related to inks and 3D printing, clean technologies and devices, semiconductors and semiconductor processing, thin film electronics, organic and inorganic composites, nanomaterials, metal alloys, bio-fuel production, microfluidics and polymer coatings.
Michelle has authored numerous scientific publications and given many presentations as both a scientist and patent attorney.
