Ms. Joseph’s practice focuses on complex business litigation and employment litigation as well as OSHA compliance. She received her bachelor’s degree from Vassar College and her law degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo (J.D. Cum Laude) where she graduated in the top 10 percent of her law school class. She has previously been an Adjunct Professor at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo Law School where she taught a course called Cyber Piracy, Intellectual Property and the Internet. Prior to forming the law firm of Schröder, Joseph & Associates, LLP, Ms. Joseph was a shareholder of Buchanan Ingersoll Professional Corporation. Her earlier career included positions as the Special Assistant to the General Counsel at the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C. and Chair of the Litigation Department of one of Buffalo’s oldest and largest law firms, Jaeckle, Fleischmann & Mugel. Ms. Joseph is a 2006 recipient of Business First’s Outstanding Women in Business Award and has been repeatedly recognized by Business First’s Who’s Who in Law for Western New York. She also was the recipient of the Athena Award for Western New York in 1998. Ms. Joseph is admitted to the bars of New York and Washington, D.C. and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Western Districts of New York, the District of Columbia and the United States Courts of Appeal for the 2nd, Federal, Fifth, Ninth and Tenth Circuits and regularly has appeared in other federal and state courts

Labor and Employment, Collective Bargaining, and ERISA Litigation:
SJA has defended both large and small corporations as well as insurers in Employment Discrimination Litigation. It has assisted numerous companies in preparing for and conducting the successful negotiation of collective bargaining agreements and has acted as lead negotiator on behalf of management on a regular basis. The firm is fully qualified and experienced in the full range of employment, ERISA and benefits litigation. Examples of the types of cases SJA attorneys have handled include individual actions and class actions concerning such subject areas as welfare and fringe benefits, pension benefits, sexual harassment and gender discrimination litigation, wage and hour law litigation, age discrimination, race discrimination, disability discrimination and religious discrimination. The attorneys of our firm have also successfully defended ERISA claims with respect to the defense of denial of welfare benefit claims.
Contract, Insurance, False Advertising, Intellectual Property, Complex Business Litigation and FINRA Arbitration:
SJA attorneys have extensive experience in complex business litigation, including insurance coverage and bad faith litigation as well as banking litigation and FINRA securities arbitrations (customer and member disputes). We also are experienced in defending and prosecuting trademark and copyright infringement actions as well as misleading advertising claims brought under the Lanham Act and state law. In addition to these areas, SJA attorneys are also experienced in breach of contract, RICO, anti-trust, unfair competition claims and other complex business litigation matters. In connection with the foregoing practice areas, we have also undertaken declaratory judgment actions and negotiations with insurance carriers regarding the scope and extent of coverage.
