Our 2015 Business Meeting is coming up in less than three weeks in beautiful San Antonio and there are many folks working hard to make this our best Business Meeting ever. The meeting is a great opportunity to learn more about NAMWOLF, develop and enhance relationships with both In-House and NAMWOLF Member Firms, and to attend sessions that are specific to practice areas providing greater insight into our firms’ capabilities to handle complex legal matters. It’s also a great opportunity to network with NAMWOLF leadership, including our Board of Directors and Advisory Council Members. And, it’s at no cost to In-House attorneys and employees who are part of the outside counsel selection process. You may learn more about the event and register by using the following link. http://www.namwolf.org/events/event_list.asp# And, for those of you in the North and Midwest, it’s a great way to move out of the cold for a few days.
We have several exciting sessions lined up including our Monday luncheon featured speaker, Kim Lubel, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of CST Brands, Inc. At this lunch, we will also be celebrating the first annual winner of the Yolanda Coly Advocacy Award. And, who better to receive this initial award than our own Yolanda Coly. We also have a Sunday luncheon panel with members of the PETCO Claims Team and PETCO’s General Counsel, Darragh Davis, who will be discussing their model of using NAMWOLF law firms as national outside counsel on premises liability matters. In addition, we have a Shell Legal Department In-House only session where Shell attorneys will be providing their perspective on how best to increase use of diverse counsel in your legal department.
For this year’s Business Meeting, we are doing something we have never done before. At the request of the In-House Advisory Council members, who wanted more opportunities to have In-House counsel meet with NAMWOLF law firm attorneys who specialize in the same practice area, we have designed several panel sessions along practice areas. We have panel sessions in Labor and Employment, Intellectual Property, Insurance, Products Liability, Retail Restaurant & Hospitality, Transactional, White Collar and Trials. The Practice Area Committee teams are very excited about presenting to lawyers who practice in the same area and have some informative and exciting sessions planned.
In addition, we will be providing an update on our Annual Meeting in Hollywood in September (there will be several In-House speaking opportunities for those interested) Also, there is an In-House Advisory Council session open to all In-House interested in learning more about how they can help effectuate change in the legal profession, and a dine around Monday evening aligned by practice area. It’s a great combination of substance, networking and fun, and those that attend typically come back year after year. While much smaller than our Annual Meeting, many In-House prefer it since it provides a more intimate environment to learn more about NAMWOLF and the 140 plus law firms that are part of NAMWOLF.
Please let anyone on the NAMWOLF Team know if you have any questions and feel free to invite others in your company who want to learn more about how to not only get high quality legal services from some amazing law firms around the U.S. but also take action that supports your Supplier Diversity and other diversity and inclusion initiatives.
We hope to see you there and we are confident it will be worth your time.
