MWH Law Group Serves as Sole Underwriter's Counsel in connection with $529 Million Bond Transaction

MWH Law Group, LLP (MWH) recently served as sole underwriter’s counsel in connection with the State of Wisconsin’s sale of General Fund Annual Appropriation Refunding Bonds of 2017 in the total amount of $529,875,000 that closed on January 26, 2017. MWH represented Samuel A. Ramirez & Co., Inc. as representative of a syndicate of underwriters purchasing the Wisconsin appropriation-backed bonds, with MWH attorney Jennifer Pflug Murphy serving as lead counsel. Lafayette & Kumagai Wins Summary Judgment in Joint Employer Case!

Congrats to Rebecca Kimura and Gary Lafayette! Lafayette & Kumagai won summary judgment in what started as a putative class action alleging joint employment of station managers. Lafayette & Kumagai initially got the court to stay the action, under the theory of exclusive concurrent jurisdiction which led to Plaintiff dismissing his class claims. In an exhaustive opinion, the court granted summary judgment, finding the firm’s client was not the joint employer of Plaintiff.
