About NAMWOLF Law Firm Members
The National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF), founded in 2001, is a nonprofit trade association comprised of a select group of minority and women-owned law firms who exhibit excellence in the legal profession . NAMWOLF’s mission is to promote true diversity in the legal profession by fostering the development of long lasting relationships between preeminent minority and women owned law firms and private/public entities.
NAMWOLF’s Core Values: Excellence ▪ Diversity ▪ Partnership ▪ Commitment ▪ Passion
NAMWOLF uses a detailed process to determine law firm admission, and this vetting process can take several months. Law firm candidates must complete an extensive application and screening process before they can be admitted for membership. The criterion for admission includes:
- Significant corporate law practice.
- Excellence in quality of law practiced, as evidenced by corporate references, presence on outside counsel approved lists and panels for national or regional corporations, and other awards and memberships.
- Favorable client references from national and regional corporations, including corporate references within the Fortune 500.
- Martindale-Hubbell AV Peer Review Rating.
- Properly certified as minority or women-owned, operated, managed and controlled (51% or more).
- Three or more full-time attorneys in the firm.
- Headquartered in the United States or Puerto Rico.
- Sufficient practice liability insurance.
NAMWOLF staff performs independent research on each prospective firm. After the firm’s application is complete, the Law Firm Committee reviews the collected materials and makes a recommendation for or against membership to the Board of Directors, with whom the final decision rests. Our goal is to have a blend of minority and women-owned law firms, dispersed geographically across the United States, representing a variety of corporate law expertise.
